It is imperative that every worker on an asbestos-containing site develop the necessary expertise to work safely and mitigate risks effectively.

This course aims to help develop a worker’s specialized skills and knowledge in the proper handling and abatement of asbestos.

The practical portion consists of constructing a decontamination simulator for attendees to actively demonstrate correct safety procedures.

• PPE requirements

• Impact of exposure to asbestos and adverse health effects

• Provincial and federal regulations

• Asbestos abatement procedures for low, moderate and high risk

• Preparation of the abatement work area

• Negative air filtration unit requirements

• Work area cleaning requirements

• Proper handling and disposal of asbestos waste
